The Numbers 3 & 16

The Numbers

Did you ever wonder why in the Gospel of John God allowed His love and our eternal life to be written in the numbers 3 & 16?

Do these particular numbers have any significant meaning for the believer? I think so lets take a look together to see what the Hebrew Bible has to say about numbers.

The number 3 signifies completeness and stability, as represented by the three Patriarchs and the three pilgrimage festivals

  1. Passover
  2. Shavout
  3. Sakkot

The number 3 is used 467 times in the Bible. It is the first of four spiritually perfect numerals.

There are 27 books in the New Testament, which is 3x3x3 ,or completeness to the third power.

There is Father,Son,and Holy Spirit that is 3 in 1 which is the blessed Trinity.

Number 16

The number 16 is symbolic of love and loving.

In case anyone has forgotten a verb is used to describe an action, state, or occurence.

Everyone knows what love is or most do or have an idea. But what if today you do not know what love is? Let me show you.

Love is

  • an intense feeling of deep affection
  • fondness and tenderness
  • warmth
  • endearment
  • adoration
  • compassion
  • concern
  • consumed with desire for
  • care very much for
  • to be smitten with

The bible defines love as follows

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy,it does not boast,it is not proud. It does not dishonor others,it is not-self seeking,it is not easily angered,it keeps no records of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices in the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

Wow what a love is there any love that can compare to the Love of God which is in Christ Jesus? Are you beginning to see His great love for you?

The love of God is an ongoing action. In the old testament 16 of the various names of God specifically signify His constant,never-ending love for the children of Israel.

The 16th time the word love is used in 1John there is no fear in love.

John 3:16

John 3:16 is the most widely quoted verses from the christian Bible it has been called the most famous Bible verse. It has also been called the Gospel in a nutshell, because it is considered the summary of the central theme of traditional Christianity.

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son,that whosoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

It is on my heart to pray with every reader right now Lord in Jesus name whoever will read this let the numbers of John 3:16 embed itself into their very hearts. That your love would surround them and crash over them like the mighty waves of the ocean. God let your love abound and overflow. Let the words of eternal life resound through the ages that these dear readers would share your love with every man, woman, boy and girl. As it is written that your patient that not any should perish but all should have eternal life. Even so let it be Lord Jesus bless these hearts and lives. In Jesus name. Amen.

Bibles and Witchcraft

I met a man in Haiti who told me since I love the mountains so much he was going to give them to me to put into my suitcase and take them home for me to love. May I tell you that he completely won my heart over!

One big thing difference for me between America and Haiti is business opportunity. Also I would rather be a homeless American with the benefits that could be available to me compared to the little opportunity I saw in Haiti christian or not.

One big concern that I saw and it is probably something I should not mention but it is just something I dont feel I will ever understand but perhaps over time is how the poor being already poor can become oppressed with poverty and be under her bondage espically with those who may come to her place with much good and they keep their goods shut up and will only give if it is according to their way.

I was told many times you can give them nothing not even a Bible. I had a real genuine struggle with this. I even broke the rules. I could not understand this way of thinking. Although I was told repeatedly by a christian organization that you cannot do this. I understand if you do for one you have to do for them all, but if you have the good of this life and can meet then need then why not?

I remember one particular young man I will not say his name nor the organization in which he worked for mainly because they do good works this is solely expressed on my opinion and does not reflect the mission of the organization I am speaking of. But this young worker who was also an american intern was very upset we had taken 2 Bibles into the village. He pretty much growled all the way there. He said we could get a photo taken that the 2 bibles were given but nothing more and could not see it being given. He proceeded to bark orders. Now I knew very well he was doing his job and I also knew there are rules put there for a reason, but rules are meant to be broken. I told the young man in front of the Haitian gal who could not speak English, and in front of the interpreter along with other team mates that I was there to please God and not to please man and his rules.

I was also told I can give Bibles for the Haitians but that they would go with a stockpile of other Bibles to be put up on the shelf. There is a process to giving Bibles and they do not have time to help everybody.

Well from what I expierenced in the village with so many missionaries there is so very little witness of the testimony of the Lord Jesus Christ. Most of who I talked to never heard of Jesus not even the mention of His name!

I was also told by an interpreter that there are vou dou priests within the village mainly head of households and over them is a witch doctor. I was told if as you are a christian, and you go to the witchdoctor you will be persecuted and bad things will begin to happen to you and that everything will start going wrong. I was told you will be questioned by this particular person who is head over the voudou priests.

With this in mind I was concerned for the locals. I was concerned as to why women who were saved were asking for prayer that they would be able to continue to serve Jesus.

Now rather you believe this or not which the Bible strictly forbids the practice of witchcraft this is all the more the reason to get the scriptures out. Just like in America there are those who do not want the Bible or do not want to accept Jesus, but as witnesses for Christ we have a commission to preach the Gospel.

I really struggled to understand. I did everything in my power to reach out to get an address to send Bibles, but everyone I spoke to was only interested in money including the village champion.

But what I do know is that there are two Bibles there I was able to get them there. One particular elder mother was ever excited, and the other girl who gave her life to Jesus was excited as well. It is my hope and prayer that they will share it with their neighbors.

The american dream is great but we cannot put the God label on it. We can’t say our way is right for everyone. But it is  certainly a blessing to be able to share our talents and skills with our neighboring countries.

With a culture so heavily into practices like witchcraft is takes the power of God to break such generational cycles that exist. You cannot put a mask over it,because Gods word will expose it.

Gods word is alive and does not belong in a stockpile to collect dust it should be put into the hands of every man, woman, boy, and girl.

What I have said here may be controversial. I was ever disappointed. Not only did I have a tough time getting these ladies a bible I had a rough time even finding a creole Bible. There was a local girl who was selling items such as paintings and I asked her if she had one of her own she would like to sell, and she without hesitation brought them to me and sold me good leather back bibles in Creole for $12.50 a piece.

This truly broke my heart, but I thank God that I was able through Him to have a way made to get those 2 Bibles into the village, and that maybe one day He will open the door for me to get more there.

The end.

The Name of Jesus

Jesus? His name is so lightly used today in America. We have the comforts of a church on every other street and some that sit side by side, but are different church denominations.

We have Jesus preached on tv, social media, and even have him on slogans like ‘ All I need today is a little bit of coffee and a whole lot of Jesus, or how about ‘Wash your hands and say your prayers because Jesus and germs are everywhere.

Although I like the sayings and they are fun, but is the name of Jesus being thrown away to make a franchise out of His name?

Has America become too comfortable on her padded seat which she sits on in her church?

The word of God tells us that at the name of Jesus every knee will bow Phil 2:10.

You see  people in under developed countries do not have our American way stamped on them. They fight and contend for their faith even if that means they are persecuted in ways that we could never imagine.

So many of them have never heard of the name of Jesus and know nothing about Him. Scriptures are hard to obtain. We assume everyone has heard, but they just chose not to serve Him.

That is a false message my friends. My heart poured out of me in a little Haitian village, because so many women had never heard of Jesus and had no idea who He was or what He did for them. This caused me to realize so many of our American friends are lost and their eternity is in the balance waiting for us to witness to them the love of our Lord Jesus Christ.

His name is above all names, but all we are able to do now is measure Jesus and germs being everywhere. What about the power of His name? What about the glory of His rapture splendor? What about His unfailing love? What about Jesus saying, If you will ask anything in my name? But yet His name is tossed around like it means nothing.

What does His name mean to you? Are you sharing His witness to everyone you meet?

God bless you.

God chose the foolish things

I Corinthians 1:27

But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise…

One of the things I learned is that if it is not foolish it is most likely not God! What do I mean? Sometimes you have to throw your expectation out of the door of how you think God should be using you at least I did!

Whatever God leads you to do you do it! I had to learn to not question the Lord Almighty. God always has a plan to use you for His purposes! Jeremiah 29:11 ” For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord.

Coconut Trees

This village champion tells us today our mission is to plant trees! I am thinking as I am hearing this mission that this is indeed foolishness. I am also questioning God in my head! This is what that sounded like. God why did you bring me 1,698 miles all the way from Texas to Haiti to plant a tree? I did not want to plant trees. I was hot and sweaty and had no idea how God was going to use a tree to do anything? So the next phase I conclude as a person who loves planting flowers in my yard along with a vegetable garden that when you plant something it becomes apart of you. So I accepted my mission. I took it that when I go home I will have planted a piece of my life there.

How was God going to use planting a tree for anything I wondered?

The tree was the foolish part! I didn’t  even see it coming.

I remember picking up this little coconut tree putting it above my shoulder. The village champion tells me that I do not have to bother since it is so hot. Hello I am from Texas so I picked that tree up along with some others who were with us I sat her on my shoulder and started to walk. The next thing I know is there is what I call a big ditch with some mud standing water along with debris and I have to get down this ditch I would say it was probably about 5 ft down and pretty rocky. I’m thinking oh Lord what on earth am I doing, but okay so the only way I can get down is to granny slide myself with this tree and then you gotta go back up another 5 ft it was pure adrenaline!

I am trusting God with this foolish thing He brought all that way for. Once to the other side of the ditch we start the tree planting. I meet an elder of the village who was a lovely as she could be I realized this elder mother is climbing up and down this cliff everyday. I thought how on earth does she do that? Haitian women also carry their work loads on top of their head with perfect posture. She shows me her knees they are really puffy my goodness she is a warrior for this task I could not myself get up and down that ditch without having to scoot! So God leads us to pray for her knees.

I am still thinking okay God well if you lead us here to pray for some knees that is awesome so there are others not many who also request prayer for specific needs. At this point I am meeting children in the village of all ages who have no underwear or diapers.

I am taking this all in. Its time to plant our last tree we walk around a couple of houses and the guys start digging in what I would call someones back yard. I am looking around and  I am seeing goats and pigs tied to trees, and lots of debris on the ground. But, suddenly I see a young woman walk up of about the age of 25 years old. I hear the conversation I do not understand a lot of creole, but my ears began to tune in. God lead me over to this woman who had questions about life after death. She never heard of Jesus even so much the mention of His name.

I guess if your reading this you can see how God chose me to take what I called a foolish task to use me for His glory! This young woman was ready to experience Jesus I was able to share with her the very heart of the Gospel, because God chose the foolish girl from Texas to pick up a foolish task to win this girl to God through Jesus Christ. She did not understand it all, but God used her also to change my life. To deepen my walk with Him. Friends she said the sinner prayer and accepted Jesus she accepted life everlasting!

What did I say? Thank you Lord for using the foolish thing such as a tree to lead me to this vessel to share your love with forgive me for questioning you.

He knows what He is doing friends we just have to trust Him.

Missions 2017

Hello. Welcome to my blog. I am new at this so I am bit rusty but I will get better.

My first Missions trip and it is to Haiti. Haiti is Mountainous country . Why do they call her that you say? Because from whichever direction you look from the north, south, east, or west there your eyes will behold the glorious splendor of her mountains. There are no words to describe this glorious view your eyes will behold, but yet in her valley she is dirty and has a very distinct smell all of her own. She is colorful very vibrant with warm hearted what I called ‘soul hearted’ people, but her her land is an environmental disaster pleading for aide.

Before I begin to even share my adventure in missions in Haiti I want you to get a feel of her Id to love take you there if only in the scenerio of my words to create the atmosphere of this place. It is very difficult to grasp a place of what your truly dealing with until you have been there. My reader I long to take you there and have you walk along side me and see through my eyes the journey I took through this spectacular nation.

Her people love music and to put their emotions into their dance. They are naked. Babies will not be wearing  diapers, young girls and boys will run around outside nude. Adults and children alike will bathe in creeks or trenches alongside roads. It is very common to see. What feels abnormal is perfectly normal there. She is Vou Dou.

Haiti is an island all of her own. Creole is her language daily you will hear Bonjou, Bonswa as Haitians await your greeting. Often times you feel among the modern Haitian women that they do not want you to speak to them, but they are she awaits your greeting!

Bonjou means Hello before noon and Bonswa means hello good afternoon.

The villages in which I visited there I found some differences for taste as some may eat cat, cow penis, but also common things like rice and flavors that are spicy similar to what I call Indian curry.

Her water is dirty most do not have a water purifying system. You do not see ac,sofas, tv of any sort not alot of technology. Classrooms have a chalk board, wooden tables, and benches and some have nothing but a bare floor.

One experience in a local church was being out in the open and 2 chickens decided to come into the worship service and no one seemed to mind. In a way I say it was awesome why big so dignified all the time?

One particular scene that just popped into my mind was an elder woman getting her cooking water out of what I would call a mud hole with standing water in it.

To be continued…………
